Questions and answers
Healx operates in Kansas. If your question is not here, ask us.
For families
- Do I need an account to look?
- No. Search by ZIP code and read full profiles without signing up. You only need an account when you want to message someone.
- What does it cost me?
- A one time $30 fee lets you message up to 5 caregivers over 30 days. There is no subscription and no commission. What you pay the caregiver for care is agreed between the two of you and never passes through Healx.
- Does Healx screen or recommend caregivers?
- No, and this is the most important thing to understand about us. Where someone lists a licence, we check it against the public registry and show what we found and when. That is the extent of it. We do not run background checks, we do not interview anyone, and we never recommend one caregiver over another. Interviewing, checking references, and deciding who to trust in your home are yours to do.
- How do I know a caregiver is qualified?
- A verification badge tells you a specific credential was active in a specific registry on a specific date. Read the profile, message them, ask for references, and interview them the way you would for any job in your home. Companions do not require a licence and are labelled as unverified.
- Who decides the rate?
- The caregiver does. Every rate you see was typed in by that caregiver. Healx never suggests, sets, or negotiates rates, and takes no share of them.
- What if I do not hear back?
- Caregivers are independent and choose who they work with, so a reply is never guaranteed. Your $30 covers messaging up to 5 caregivers, so it is usually worth contacting more than one.
- Can I get a refund?
- Contact us and we will look at it. If a payment is refunded, messaging switches off, but nothing is deleted: your account and every conversation stay exactly as they were, and a new unlock turns replying back on.
- Can I leave a review?
- Yes, once you and the caregiver have confirmed in the app that you are working together. The caregiver can post one public reply underneath. We do not remove reviews for being negative.
For caregivers
- What does it cost to list?
- Nothing to create a listing, and nothing for as long as no family contacts you. The first time a family messages you, you save a card in order to reply. That starts 30 free days, after which it is $10 per month to stay listed and reachable by families searching Healx.
- Is the $10 a fee for getting hired?
- No. It is a flat fee for having a listing that families can find and reach, and it does not change based on whether you are hired, how often, or what you charge. Someone who never takes a client pays the same as someone booked solid. Healx takes no percentage of your rate, ever.
- What if I do not want to save a card?
- Then do not. Your listing stays up and families can still find you. You simply cannot send replies until a card is saved, and the message waits for you. Nothing that has already been sent to you is hidden or held back.
- Who sets my rate?
- You do, and only you. Healx will never suggest a number, show you an average, or tell a family what you ought to charge.
- Am I an employee of Healx?
- No. You are an independent professional. Healx does not employ, direct, supervise, schedule, or train anyone, and does not withhold taxes or provide benefits or insurance. You are responsible for your own taxes and for any insurance you choose to carry.
- Can I pause or cancel?
- Yes, from your billing page, in two taps. Pausing stops your billing and hides your listing while you are not taking clients, and you can unpause any time. Cancelling ends the subscription at the end of the period you have paid for. Neither one deletes anything.
- What happens if a payment fails?
- Our payment processor retries over about ten days and lets you know. If it still does not go through, your profile is hidden from search until payment resumes. Hidden is never deleted: your profile, credential, messages, and reviews are all kept, and paying puts you straight back.
- A family left a review I think is unfair. What can I do?
- You get one public reply underneath it, in your own words, and families read both. We will not take a review down for being negative, because deciding whether criticism is deserved would mean judging your work, which is not our place. You can report a review if it is abusive, is not about care you provided, or came from someone you never spoke to.
Healx is a directory, not a home health agency, and does not employ or supervise caregivers. See the Terms of Service for the full detail.
